Top 10 Tuesday: Best of 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.

I'm going to start doing a weekly Top 10 Tuesday list, each one hosted by the incredible The Broke & The Bookish, one of my favorite book blogs.

Honestly, I'm a little nervous to post my Top 10 of 2016 when I still have 5 days left of this year (and am reading frantically). However, I'm going to suck it up and do my best.

Note that these are all just books read in 2016, not published during the year. I'm not putting any numbers to these because I can't put them in any kind of order!

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (2016): I loved this steamy sequel and watching Feyre become stronger and more confident. I can't wait to see how the series gets wrapped up next year, and what's in store for Tamlin the Tool.

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas (2016): I do hate that both of Maas's books this year ended on similar notes, but as soon as I finished EoS, I immediately started it over and read it again. I loved the focus on the other characters, especially Manon and Elide, and I loved all the new ships.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: How in the everloving everything did it take me so long to read Fangirl?!

You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott: One of the creepiest books of the year, I think. The human soul can be one of the darkest places. I found one of my favorite authors this year.

The Girls by Emma Cline (2016): Some people felt this was a little overwritten, but I loved Cline's gorgeous writing and how she got into the head of the teenage girl.

Walk The Earth A Stranger by Rae Carson (2015): I'd sort of forgotten about Rae Carson after The Girl of Fire and Thorns, but man I loved this book. I haven't read the follow up, yet, but I'm looking forward to getting to it soon.

A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis (2015): What lush writing, fierce women, and breathtaking opening scenes.

Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín (2009): Here's the only guy on this list. I read it in anticipation of the film, and I loved the writing and the story so much.

I'm Not Your Manic Pixie Dream Girl by Gretchen McNeil (2016): I liked this high school rom-com that took worn out tropes and turned them on their heads.

The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh (2015): I loved the rich, lush writing and the characterization of this retelling. I wasn't as thrilled with its follow-up, but I devoured this one.

2016 might have been a dumpster fire in almost every way except when it came to books. What books topped your list this year?
