This is a weekly book meme hosted by Reads and Treats. What I liked about this meme from the first time I saw it is that it gets me thinking and writing about something other than books at least once in a while. Work and life can be overwhelming sometimes, and books are a great retreat from all the stuff. But it's important to remember to get out and do other things--especially new things!
This week's 5 Things on Sunday is on New Things To Try. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely a creature of habit. This is fine most of the time, but then I'll suddenly realize I've just been sticking to the program for too long, that I haven't stepped out of my comfort zone for a while. Here are some new things I'd like to try.
Exercise in the mornings. I mean, honestly, this fills me with no small amount of dread to think about. But I also think that even if it just begins with a 15-20 minute walk with my dogs first thing in the morning, that it'll do a lot of good to get me motivated to move more in general.
Baking. I think I'd actually be pretty good at this and find it relaxing. I just actually don't like sweets very much so I just don't think about baking very often.
Hot yoga. Everyone keeps talking about hot yoga. I can't go anywhere without falling into at least one conversation about hot yoga. I need to try hot yoga at least once so that I don't have to sit outside of another conversation about hot yoga.
Blog about more serious topics from month to month. Step up and use my site as a platform for things that matter.
Explore my city more, and better. I love Memphis, but there's still so much I haven't seen. Museums, restaurants, parks, neighborhoods--I wanna get out and learn it all!
I feel like most of these read more like New Years' resolutions rather than just new things I'd like to try. I'm going to check back in with this list each month to see how I've done and what I can add to the list.
