Top 5 Wednesday: Hate-to-Love Ships

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme brought by T5W on Goodreads.

Yaaaaas! Today we get to write about one of my favorite romance tropes: The Hate-to-Love Romance!!

I wrote about just this thing in a Top 10 Tuesday on Valentine's Day, but it was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be to not repeat myself.

Shahrzad & Khalid from The Wrath & The Dawn

Sigh, sigh, sigh. What a beautiful, beautiful book. And as absorbing as the romance is, the rest of the story and its depiction of friendship and love of all kinds is just as integral.

Nastya & Josh from The Sea of Tranquility

This one may not be as much hate-to-love as it is an antagonistic super slow-burn romance. It's been a few years since I've read The Sea of Tranquility but it found me at the right time and I've been thinking about it since.

Joey & Pacey from Dawson's Creek

Maybe I'm dating myself a little here but I WILL NEVER FORGET THE EPISODE WHEN IT ALL FINALLY HAPPENED. The watching-it-in-real-time, the calling-my-friend-from-my-landline-phone-to-freak-out. Sure, we had to wait like another entire season as it all unfolded, but I'll never forget them. How could anyone have ever wanted to end up with this guy:

Elide & Lorcan from Empire of Storms

I KNOW THEY'RE STILL BASICALLY AT THE HATE PART (mostly) BUT I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE. I'M PREEMPTIVELY CALLING THIS OTP AND I WILL SINK WITH IT, I DON'T EVEN CARE.

Elena and Damon from The Vampire Diaries

I could have chosen a few other hate-to-love relationships from The Vampire Diaries but I had to choose Elena and Damon. Like Buffy and Spike, but steamier, I waited ages for them to finally get together. I still haven't made it all the way through the series, but one of these days...
