Top 5 Wednesday: Series That Just Got Better

Top 5 Wednesday from Goodreads

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme brought by T5W on Goodreads.

We all know the complete and utter sadness of a series that starts off okay and then just completely falls on its face (I'm looking at you, Divergent). That's why I'm so excited about the topic for this Wednesday: Those series that just kept getting better and better.

I know I'm not alone when I say that one of my greatest loves is a good book series. I fell in love with them when I was younger because I just hated when a book ended; I always felt a little heartbroken when a book ended and I realized I'd never get the chance to live in that world for the first time ever again. There were so many series I loved as a kid, too: The Betsy series, Anne of Green Gables, Christopher Pike's Last Vampire and Final Friends series.

Here are five series that I think just kept getting better and better over time. (Hey, Harry Potter, you're not included in this list b/c you're just so special, okay? Don't get your feelings hurt.)

Razorland series by Ann Aguirre

This isn't the first time I've talked about the Razorland series by Ann Aguirre, and I seriously doubt that it'll be the last. This series started out really strong and just kept getting better. It's about teens in an apocalyptic world (I know, I know) but it's just so effing good I can't stand it.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone is another of my all-time favorite series. As soon as I finished the first book I knew there was no way I'd not go on to the next one, but the writing and the storyline just kept getting stronger.

Throne of Glass dragged me in from the first book, but I didn't really start falling in love with the series (also read: recommending it hard to my friends) until the second and third books. I especially love when Maas starts weaving in the other characters' story lines, and Manon and Elide are probably my favorite characters. (So, while I'm happy that there's an extra surprise novel in this series, I'm also pretty bummed that I have to wait so long to get back to their stories.)

The His Dark Materials trilogy is probably one of my favorite fantasy series (cover your ears, Harry). The second in the series is probably my favorite, but only because the very end bummed me out more than a little. I cannot believe that we're going to get a TV series that covers the entire series. **heart eyes forever**

If you love New Adult, and you haven't read the Off-Campus series yet, then you need to get your priorities in order and get on this ASAP. This is hands down the best New Adult series I've ever read. And you know, maybe I did cheat a little because I wouldn't even say that it had a weak start, just that it stayed awesome all the way through.

Did any of my favorites make your list? Do you have any other New Adult series to recommend to me? Let me know!
